In the SDZ area many of the communities are very isolated. Several of the community centres and schools have requested a computer so local residents may learn essential computer skills without having to travel several kilometers to the Nanasala through difficult terrain. The Living Heritage Trust runs its operation as cheaply as possibly so that most funding can go towards projects. All international staff are unpaid, living in shared and very basic accommodation, transport is largely public, on foot or by bike and we share our offices with the Nanasala. We are transparent in our accounting and calculate that annually it will cost us $10,000 to cover our overheads. Part of this will be funded by various sustainability measures and by our corporate affiliates but donations towards our running costs are essential to our continuing operations.
